Kudos to Datuk Seri Hishammuddin who wants those responsible for bringing the cow’s head to the Selangor State secretariat building to be charged in court. Today’s Star reported him saying that “The Home Ministry views seriously all issues that could undermine harmony, unity, as well as national security and stability of this multi-racial country”.
The event is indeed serious and if unchecked it could undermine the Prime Minster’s 1Malaysia efforts which largely have the support of the people. Hisham’s call for legal action is in line with the Government’s commitment to the 1Malaysia policy. Bloggers and online media had carried the news here, here, here here, here, here, here, here and here.
Further any inaction against the protesters who carried the cow’s head and indeed stepping on it would be perceived as lack of enforcement of law and order. There can be no excuse for such a shameful and evil act.
It is also worrisome that the unthinking segment of the population may equate the actions of the delinquents with Islam, when in fact what they did is completely contrary to the teachings of the Quran and the Prophet. This should never have happened, what more in the month of Ramadan.
Now that the Home Minster has spoken, people await the response from the enforcement agencies.
Peace !

Can somebody in the know please explain why the police were quick to arrest those who took part in the anti ISA demo but until now no arrests have been made with regards to the "cow head" demo. In my humblest opinion these cow head demonstrators were inspired by feelings of racial supremacy - 'This is my land so I can do anything I want'. But do not forget some time ago there were equally obnoxious morons who put a pig's head on the gate of a mosque in Melaka. Bigots of every color and creed, are everywhere - like H1N1. Let's fight them (non violently of course) before they overwhelm us.
