Kau in bagaimana Atau Aku harus bagaimana?

Rintihan-rintihan Rakyat di perkatakan
Harapan Rakyat di suarakan
berkurun kurun lamanya
berdekad dekad lamanya
sepanjang sejarah kehidupan manusia
sepanjang sejarah pemerintah dan diperintah

Namun
tidak berubah-ubah sikap pemerintah
kecanduan kuasa dan harta lebih mengcekam pemeirntah
daripada kesengsaraan serta kepercayaan Rakyat jelata.

Gus Mus seorang Rapera
beliau tahu untuk pemerintah berubah
Rakyat perlu berubah dahulu !

Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela

A great leader has walked on earth and has passed away on 5th December 2013 at age 95. Without doubt he is an excellent personification of a Rapera.

CNN writes:

"(CNN) -- Freedom fighter, prisoner, moral compass and South Africa's symbol of the struggle against racial oppression.
That was Nelson Mandela, who emerged from prison after 27 years to lead his country out of decades of apartheid.
His message of reconciliation, not vengeance, inspired the world after he negotiated a peaceful end to segregation and urged forgiveness for the white government that imprisoned him.
"As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison," Mandela said after he was freed in 1990".
Peace !

Tengku Razaleigh 2010 - "It's Time To Wake Up"

One of the best speeches I have heard from a political leader in this country !

It is like a Rapera mindset !

YB Manoharan’s surprise Birthday Bash.

YB Mano, the State Assemblyman for Kota Alam Shah, was surprised to see many of his friends there. It showed on his face – and he certainly seemed touched. I have known Mano for many years as a cheerful, soft spoken, helpful and generally quiet guy (hence my surprise when he went into politics!). When his wife kindly invited me to the birthday dinner, I gladly accepted. It has been a habit every year for me to call his kids or the reverse to wish each other happy birthday because we share the same date! So when Mano was in detention under ISA, his kids were uppermost in my mind.

He was asked to say a few words. He thanked everyone present and recounted his experience in Kamunting detention camp. He said he was grateful to be able to celebrate his birthday with family and friends - as every citizen should be able to.

Mano cutting the birthday cake, flanked by his wife Puspha, daughter, Shivaranjini (12)and sons, Hariharan (12) and Ganendra (10). They looked very happy that night to have their father with them on his birthday.

There was a surprise announcement - the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu had dropped by to attend Mano's birthday party! Wow!

His mother and one of his sons, Hariharan.

Mano, may you and your family be always blessed. And may you serve the Nation well.
Peace!

John Edgar Hoover, FBI

Thanks to The Cutting Edge for this photo.

I have been talking about John Edgar Hoover to some of my friends since last September. He is an interesting character in American political and forensic history. History must be read and learned from or we will be condemned to repeat it, so said my secondary school teacher. I remembered that in my mind.

Who is this personality?

On May 10, 1924, Hoover was selected to head the Bureau of Investigation. He was singularly responsible for professionalizing the FBI and turning it into an efficient crime-busting unit, including rooting out corrupt politicians. However, in the long run, it also made FBI and him particularly into a very powerful unit that can influence and shape those in the corridors of power.

The FBI under Hoover collected information on all America's leading politicians. Known as Hoover's secret files, this material was used to influence their actions. It was later claimed that Hoover used this incriminating material to make sure that the eight presidents that he served under, would be too frightened to sack him as director of the FBI. This strategy worked and Hoover was still in office when he died, aged seventy-seven, on 2nd May, 1972.

J. Edgar Hoover became and, for the greater part of his tenure, remained the most powerful man in Washington.

His biography and what can be learned from it is interesting reading.

Read it and you will understand, that is if you want to understand.

EVENING WITH DATUK AZIZ SATAR

For me, it is like a long wait to meet this famous actor – Aziz Satar. Everyone fondly remembers him as the team member of the “sudin-ramlee-aziz” team. I have met the late P.Ramlee and the late A.R. Tompel before but then I was very young.

We chatted about the genius of P.Ramlee and how Malaysia lost a visionary actor and script writer well ahead of his time. I recall that Malaysia did not give P.Ramlee the support that he needed when he returned to Malaysia from Singapore. This is the malady of the Malays – inability to recognize real talent and real leadership.

It is even sadder that we still have not woken up to the idea of tapping on the experience and knowledge of veterans.

Dato’ Aziz spoke about 6 things that P.Ramlee told him, which I found interesting:

(a) Aziz, Allah Taala tidak memberi kita segala-gala.
(f) Aziz, jangan selalu menyalahkan orang lain kerana nak melindungi salah sendiri.

The social messages in P.Ramlee movies are brought forth subtly, sometimes in the manner of comedy.

Dato Aziz Satar recalls a scene in the movie “Semerah Padi” where two farmers in dispute appeared before the penghulu. The Penghulu advised them:

“Apa yang digaduhkan? Kan elok kalau hari ini kau tolong sawah dia? Dan esok dia tolong sawah kau pulak dan buat lah seterusnya macam ni”.

I cannot help thinking that this will be useful advise to politicians in the cause of National interest issues. Apparently, P. Ramlee had PAS and UMNO in mind when he penned this dialogue.

Dato Aziz Satar is currently completing a book recording his experience with P.Ramlee and it is scheduled to be published by the end of this year.

We wish him the best and look forward to the book.

PEACE !
